Waiter Stand - Jack Stand
A waiter’s stand is a metal or wood stand or cart used by waiters during the serving process. The waiter stand has several flat shelves which are perfect for storing multiple plates of food during an event and wheels for portability. During a sit down dining event, multiple waiters serve several tables at the same time and the waiter’s stand keeps the waiters from doing a lot of running back and forth between the kitchen and the dining area. Once the food is ready, the waiters can place all the plates of food for one table on the waiter’s stand in order to serve the table in a timely fashion. The waiter’s stand should be placed in an inconspicuous spot so that the waiter can retrieve plates easily for each guest but not create a huge disturbance. The waiter’s stand is meant to make the serving process more efficient but its presence in the middle of a walking space can be unsafe and an overall eyesore.
The waiter’s stand itself is comparable to a moving cart. It has wheels for portability and usually the shelves themselves pull out to make the loading process easier. The waiter’s stand is sleek in design yet can cause people to trip if one is not careful. If there is low lighting in a particular venue, then the wait staff should be sure to place the stand along the wall so that people will not hurt themselves by tripping or falling. Once the guests have finished eaten the waiter would collect the plates on the waiter’s stand making the clearing process much more efficient. If the waiter doesn’t have to run back and forth to the kitchen with plates, then the service will be much more efficient and timely. The waiter’s stand is also good for keeping the food as hot as possible. If you are serving an event of 250 guests then using a waiter’s tray is essential otherwise the food of the guests who are served last will be cold once they receive it.
