Tureen
A tureen is a broad, deep oval shaped container with handles and a low domed knobbed cover used for serving foods such as soups or stews. A tureen is a serving dish much like a platter although it is for serving liquid dishes. Tureens can be made of decorative ceramic, porcelain or silver and commonly rest on a platter.
The tureen came into use in 17th century France and was named after the French military hero Marshal Turenne. Tureens are a practical serving vessel for about six people so in today’s modern catering and event planning world they could be used for serving individual tables of guests. A tureen might not be practical for a buffet line unless it is just for show under which case, the wait staff would have to continue to refill the vessel. A tureen comes with a domed shaped top which allows the steam to rise and keeps the contents hotReady to see what Event Solutions can do for you? Call us at 877-231-9267 or click here!
