Tablecloth - Tablecloths
A tablecloth is a piece of fabric made of cotton, velon, plastic, spandex or other material used to cover a table during an event for the purpose of:
The tablecloth is a very important item at an event because usually banquet table are rented meaning they might not be in tip top shape. The tablecloth would cover all imperfections making each table look the same. The tablecloth should be bought or rented to match the colors of the décor. If the décor for a Christmas party is centered on the colors red and gold, you could decide to have red tablecloths with gold accented centerpieces for example. A table is not fully dressed without a tablecloth and at an event it would be very tacky not to have one unless it makes sense for your theme. If an event is being held in your client’s home and they want to show off a beautiful stain-glassed dining table, then obviously you would forgo the tablecloth and protect the table through the use of risers and chargers.
The whole point of the décor is to bring everything together so it appears to be coherent- a tablecloth is one way to make this happen. A tablecloth is also necessary to help protect tables from scratches and scorching and really helps to formalize an event. The style of tablecloths differs greatly. A tablecloth could be a disposable plastic tarp like fabric with clown emblems for a seven-year-olds birthday party or fancy decorated expensive piece of hand decorated cloth. Before choosing a tablecloth you should really consider the style of the event you are throwing. If you are planning a company picnic, you probably shouldn’t deal with traditional tablecloth linens and instead opt for disposable velon.
