Step and Repeat
A step and repeat is a series of ground markers created for a public appearances or any event where interviews and photographs taken on the red carpet are essential. A step and repeat is simply marks on a red carpet or another distinctive walkway where participants must stop to either take pictures or give an interview. The step and repeat is set up so that media outlets can access the celebrities, CEOs and other VIP people for interviews who are scheduled to attend an event. The step and repeat serves as an organizational tool as each person is given a set amount of time at each mark before they have to advance to the next one which allows the line to continue to progress.
The step and repeat is usually set up on the red carpet outside of the main entrance of an event. The idea is for people to walk to a mark, answer questions and take a picture and then stop at the next mark and repeat the same thing all over again. The marks are usually pieces of colored tape arranged on the ground surface so that guests can easily distinguish their positions.
Step and repeats can be organized by a publicist or an event planner both of whom would be aware of the attendees who need to do press at the event. The step and repeat is great because guests are able to reach many different media outlets in a short amount of time. The whole red carpet setup attracts a lot of attention so it is definitely a good way to create a buzz. The step and repeat helps the control the craziness of the red carpet as it can become an event within itself especially if you have a large number of celebrities present.
