PA System - Public Address
A public address or “PA system” is an electronic amplification system used to broadcast audio messages throughout a wired system. The PA system is helpful in the fact that everyone in a particular venue can receive the same message at the same time. PA systems can be used on stage with microphones in order to amplify the speakers or performers voice to the crowd. The system itself consists of a mixer, amplifier and loudspeakers. The number and size of loudspeakers depends on the size of the venue or building one is trying to wire.
The term public address refers to a speech or announcement given by a speaker directed at a given audience. Public addresses are usually directed at a specific audience that will be able to benefit from the speech or announcement being given. The PA system itself saves people from yelling throughout a room to ensure that everyone in the venue can hear the message. Because of the amplifier and loudspeakers, the sound level immediately directs the audience’s attention towards the speaker. The PA system can be used for events such as:
