Location - Locations

The location of an event is the place or site of your event. It is the agreed upon place where the entire event is taking place. The event’s location should be clearly printed on your invitations and recited to your vendors so that everyone is on the same page. Deciding on and securing a location is probably the most important piece of event planning. It is great to have a date, a guest list and a themed but unless you have a place for those people to be on that date- you don’t have an event. A location can be a:

  • Park
  • Hotel
  • House or Mansion
  • Garden
  • Museum
  • Loft
  • Warehouse
  • Office Building
  • Conference Room
  • Theatre
  • Stadium
  • Pool
  • Aquarium

The location should be secured by an event planner or by the client usually with a deposit and an agreed upon event date. When thinking about a location, the number of guests is the most important thing to consider. If you choose to hold a six to eight person dinner party in a 3,00 sq ft venue- you are probably wasting money. The true problem arises when you have more guests than space. The fun of an event will quickly dissipate if your guests are in a tight crowded space with no room to move around and function. You should also choose a location that can support the theme and style of your event. You should check all of the rules and regulations before securing your venue. If you want a candle lit wedding ceremony make sure that your venue allows free burning candles. The location of an event is key. It is so important in fact that the entire event will fall apart if the location you choose isn’t the right choice for your event from the beginning.
