Gazebo

A gazebo is a slightly elevated outdoor pavilion shelter made with or without seating. Gazebos are made typically of wood although they could be constructed out of wrought iron for an interesting effect. Gazebos are distinctive due to their openings on all sides and provide basic shelter, decoration and shade. The open spaces allow for ample ventilation during the summer months. Gazebos vary in size and while they can be found in someone’s backyard they are more typically found in parks, gardens and other public areas. Gazebos are a nice ornamental element in any venue or outdoor arena. The seating in gazebos are usually organized around the outside leaving the center for standing and walking and are very basic in design. Gazebos themselves are made up of geometric wood designs and do little to protect guests from harsh elements as they are completely open, as stated previously. They do make a great shelter or location for:

  • Wedding ceremonies
  • Picnic
  • Proposals
  • Bands and/or singers

In a wedding ceremony, the bride, groom and officiant would stand inside the gazebo to recite the vows. This would allow for guests to view the wedding yet provide a level of privacy for the bride and groom as well. If you find a large gazebo in a park it could serve as the setting for a small picnic. You could set up tables and additional chairs inside the gazebo for the food. A gazebo would also make a nice setting for a proposal. Gazebos have a natural air of romanticism so they would be the perfect setting for a proposal. Gazebos have a pretty large deck which is perfect for a band or other entertainment setup. The gazebo could serve as its own stage and would  immediately attract the attention of your guests.
