Glossary of Event Planning Terms - U - V
Up lighting parcan lighting placed on the floor so the light is directed upwards. The light creates a look of spotlights in the sky.
Urn A large metal or plastic container with a spigot used to serve coffee, tea and other drinks in large quantities. Guests can wither use the spigot to serve themselves or can be served by an attendent. Glasses and cups are usually within reach.
Valet A company and persons hired for the evening or by the hour by an event planning company or venue to park and retreive cars during an event for a nominal fee. Valet parking is an advantage because the compnay then becomes responsible for any marks, scratches or dents that appear on the car while in their care. Guests do not have to worry about finding parking and can drop off their car right in front of the venue and proceed in. 
Velon Plastic pliable material used to cover a table or anything stationary for decorating an informal event. Velon can be used at picnics and other outdoor events to cover wooden tables or to decorate anything unslightly.
Venue A place, site, room or building where an event is going to be held
VIP A Very Important Person- a person or a group at an event who holds special importance for instance maybe they are sponsoring the event, or are the honoree. VIP also denotes a private, confined and managed area where the included guests and dine, drink and socialize amoungst themselves.
