Event Staff – Catering Staff

An event staff is the team of people who are hired by an event production company to work the event on the day of the event. They are usually very experience and are trained to provide the client and guests with the most courteous and efficient service possible. They are experts and are staffed in every possible arena of the event including:

  • Security
  • Registration
  • Buffet Line
  • Valet
  • Bar
  • Food Service
  • Entertainment
  • Setup
  • Floral Design
  • Lighting
  • Sound

The efforts of the event staff is what culminates into the event’s success. If the members of the event staff fail to adequately complete their job then the event could be a disaster. The event staff load and unload the truck, serve the drinks, interact with the crowd, oversee admittance and serve the food. If the truck isn’t unloaded on time, then the food might not be prepared on time which will affect the timeline of the entire event. It is important for the event staff to know all the rules and regulations of the venue to avoid any unnecessary penalty costs.

It is important that the entire event staff is on the same page and can work efficiently together. Teamwork and communication is the key to success. Every aspect of the event is contingent upon one another so usually before an event the staff will have a meeting to discuss every aspect of the event. The meeting is held to discuss all integral aspects of the event and to alert everyone to any changes. The event staff should know something about everyone else’s job so they can have a clear idea of how it all fits together. Events run much more efficiently if the entire team is clear about each other’s roles.

Event production on the day of the event is based upon the efforts of all participants so, communication is the key. Make sure that your team has a positive attitude and really enjoys the work that they are doing. It is also important that you as the company treat your employees with respect because you don’t want them to take out their frustrations at an event.
It is also important for the event staff to understand the timeline of the setup. Some things such as the creation of the stage (if necessary) should be done before the placement of the tables to make sure that they are the right distance from the stage. Once the stage is built, it is obviously more difficult to move it rather than the tables themselves.
