BOWERS MUSEUM

Bower’s Museum is the largest in museum in Orange County and boasts of a broad collection of international art and local art. Several areas can be rented out for events. The Fluor Family Gallery holds 50, the Mary M. Mouth Gallery holds 100 for receptions and the courtyard and balcony holds 1,000. The entire museum can be rented out for 1,500 and the Patina Group’s Tangata restaurant provides catering.

CALIFORNIA AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM

overview:
This museum is located in Exposition Park and houses an extensive collection of African-American art and memorabilia. The 44,000 sq. ft. complex features three full-size exhibition galleries, a 14,000 sq. ft. sculpture court, a theater and conference facilities. There is a full kitchen and a patio accessible from the conference center. The sculpture court features a glass ceiling and accommodates 1,000 for receptions.

CALIFORNIA CENTER FOR THE ARTS

This 12-acre campus is located in downtown Escondido and features a 406-seat Center Theater, a 1,523-seat concert hall, three galleries, studios for art and dance and a visual arts museum. The 9,000 sq. ft. conference center boasts of five ballrooms and various meeting venues.

This 44-acre park is considered to be the birthplace of Los Angeles back in 1781. It includes four historic museums, historic architecture, an outdoor plaza and the Olvera Street Mexican marketplace. The entire complex holds 15,000 people.

FIDM MUSEUM & GALLERIES

overview:
The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It features 10,000 sq. ft. of museum and gallery space including the annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit. The adjacent park can be used in combination with the event space. For events they can accommodate groups of up to 1,000. Renaissance is the exclusive caterer.

Fowler Museum is located on the UCLA campus and housed art and artifacts from Asia, Africa and the Americas. The courtyard holds 150 for receptions, the terrace holds 200, the auditorium seats 326 and the amphitheater holds 400 for receptions. For smaller events, the galleries can be made available.

The Hammer Museum often hosts lectures and cultural events. Its main lobby holds 335 for receptions and is ornamented with murals and a marble bar. The Wilshire Lobby holds 300 for receptions and features artwork by Pae White. The tree-lined courtyard holds 460 for seated events and 900 for receptions.

LONG BEACH MUSEUM OF ART

overview:
This museum features views of the Long Beach Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. The garden is located between the gallery and the Historic Anderson House, right on the oceanfront. It accommodates 500 for receptions. The Anderson House hosts 50 for receptions in its dining room. It boasts of a fireplace and ocean views. Craig’s Extraordinary Catering is the exclusive caterer.

overview:
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art debuted in 1965 as the largest new museum to be built in the country since the National Gallery of Art. It opened in a 1939 Art Deco-style building. Event spaces include the observation deck and the outdoor courtyard, which hold 1,000 each. The theater seats 600, the lecture hall seats 116 and the Japanese pavilion holds 100.

This museum features international art through paintings, sculpture, fold art, jewelry, artifacts and photography. It encompasses 41,000 sq. ft. on the Plaza de Panama in beautiful Balboa Park. For events the bi-level exhibition galleries can be used in conjunction and accommodate 135 for seated events and 300 for receptions. The theater gallery accommodates 175 for meetings.

This downtown museum is the only exclusively contemporary art museum in Los Angeles. Venues include the rooftop terrace that holds 100 for seated events and 200 for receptions. The sculpture plaza, at 5,600 sq. ft., holds 200 for seated events and 500 for receptions.

This stunning museum is located in the architecturally rich city of La Jolla. It is located across the street from the La Jolla Cove and features great views of the ocean. The museum has a theater that seats 492. Axline Court, the enclosed courtyard, holds 200 for seated events and 500 for receptions. The Coast Room with its adjacent terrace holds 120 for seated events and 250 for receptions.

This museum was built in 1966 and recently renovated in 2007. The sculpture garden encompasses 15,000 sq. ft. of succulents, agaves, and palm plants. It holds 500 for seated events and 1,000 for receptions. The Balboa Room accommodates 750 for receptions.

This Balboa Park museum is housed in a gorgeous Spanish Colonial-style building in Balboa Park. It includes a reception area, gallery space, a 226-seat theater and a spacious atrium. The David C. Copley Atrium features porcelain travertine floors, a 24-foot ceiling, an 18-foot stage and skylights and holds 150 for seated events and 200 for receptions.

ORANGE COUTNY CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ART

This contemporary community art center is operated by local artists in the Santa Ana Artist’s Village. The open 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse is often used for special events and receptions. It features open wooden roof trusses, concrete floors, configurable walls and a kitchen with a commercial refrigerator.

This Orange County museum is home to the California Biennial. It showcases a remarkable permanent collection and often hosts prominent exhibits. It features soaring ceilings, Greek columns, and an outdoor courtyard. The courtyard holds 230, while the pavilion holds 270. There is also a conference room that seats 40 and an auditorium that seats 108.

PALM PRINGS ART MUSEUM

This 70,000 sq. ft. museum encompasses three large hangars and showcases one of the world’s largest collections of World War II aircrafts. Other art includes a car collection from the 1920s and 30s, paintings and photography. The venue can accommodate events for up to 3,000 people.

PASADENA MUSEUM OF CALIFORNIA ART

Museum opened in 2002 and is the only museum exclusively dedicated to Californian art, architecture and design. Event spaces include the Founder’s gallery holding 200 for receptions and the rooftop terrace holding 230 for seated events and 400 for receptions. The terrace features views of the City Hall dome and the San Gabriel Mountains.

This museum is located on a two acre estate consisting of the 1906 Fenyes Mansion, the 1915 Curtain House and a newer building that features a research library, two galleries and a conference room. The Curtain House holds 60 in its sitting room. The Fenyes Mansion garden holds 200 for receptions. The contemporary building holds 400 when combining the two galleries and the conference room.

SAN DIEGO MODEL RAILROAD MUSEUM

This 27,000 sq. ft. museum is the largest indoor railroad display in the world. Located on the lower level of the Casa De Balboa in Balboa Park, this museum showcases detailed model exhibits of California lines. The library holds 50, theater-style and the entire museum holds 75 for seated events and 100 for receptions.

SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF ART

Like most of Balboa Park, this building was erected in 1935 for the California Pacific International Exposition. This gorgeously detailed, Spanish Colonial-style building is one of the premier spots in Balboa Park. The rotunda area features a handcrafted sandstone fountain and holds 160 for seated events and 500 for receptions. The auditorium seats 250 for receptions and 400, theater-style. The sculpture garden holds 800 for receptions and features work from the 19th and 20th century.

SANTA BARBARA MUSEUM OF ART

overview:
This museum opened in 1941 and features a diverse collection ranging from international Modernist art to traditional Asian art. The Ridley-Tree Gallery accommodates 100 for seated events and 200 for receptions. Other venues include the 154-seat theater, the Preston Morton Gallery, the outdoor patio and the entry gallery with a fountain and an atrium.

SPANISH VILLAGE ART CENTER

Located in Balboa Park, this art center was built in 1937 and designed in the Spanish style. This center holds 40 studios, many of which can be used for events. After 5pm, the patio in the center of the village is available for events. It accommodates as many as 500 people.

HUNTINGTON LIBRARY AND BOTANICAL GARDENS

overview:
The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens was established in 1919 on 150 acres of land. It is comprised of three themed landscaped gardens, three art galleries, fountains and a library featuring sculptures, paintings, rare books and manuscripts. Venues include the hall for 375, the garden terrace with views of the lawn, the Shakespeare garden, the rose garden, the Erburu Gallery loggia for 60 and another loggia for 90.
