BOLSA CHICA STATE PARK

Bolsa Chica State Beach is located between Huntington Beach and Seal Beach. It extends about three miles and doesn’t lack in activities. The beach allows for surf fishing and grunion runs. It includes two covered and two uncovered picnic areas and a grassy lawn. All the aforementioned areas are available for picnics and events.

Coronado Central Beach is a quaint one-and-a-half mile beach located just across the bridge from San Diego. The fine sand beach features one of the oldest and most prominent hotels in California, the Hotel Del Coronado. Activities include boogie boarding, volleyball, kite-flying, and snorkeling. The neighboring Sunset Park has plenty of lawn space for picnicking.

Dockweiler Beach has its advantages. Being located under the flight path of LAX is not one of them. Activities on this beach include beach volleyball, jogging, rollerblading and biking. Picnic areas and fire rings make it ideal for gatherings.

Doheny, designated in 1971, is California’s first state beach. Event venues include a five-acre lawn with fifteen picnic areas and volleyball courts. Each picnic section holds 25 to 500 people. Most sections feature grills and fire rings, while some have sinks and electrical outlets. During low season, the Palapa snack bar is open for service.

Upon entering Santa Barbara, East Beach is the first beach that greets you. This picturesque location features volleyball courts, several pavilions, picnic facilities and a playground. The large, grassy lawn is ideal for hosting events, including the weekly art fair.
EL CAPITAN STATE BEACH

El Capitan State Beach’s campgrounds feature camping sites, picnic areas, hiking trails and a two-and-a-half-mile bike path. Most sites overlook the ocean and have direct access to the beach. Group picnic and camping sites are available.
HUNTINGTON STATE BEACH

This beach is a popular event location because of its easily accessible, shaded picnic facilities. Sections of the beach can be reserved. Large-scale events that include tents, amplified sound, lights and alcohol may be allowed with permits. There are volleyball nets and 200 fire pits scattered throughout the stretch of beach.
LA JOLLA SHORES

This quaint, mile-long beach is a popular spot for locals and students of the University of California San Diego. Its calm waves make it ideal for scuba divers, with classes available throughout the summer. Kellogg Park, the grassy lawn space, is perfect for picnics and small gatherings. For groups larger than 75 a permit is required.

This beach is located west of the Santa Barbara Marina. The Shoreline Beach Café features an outdoor patio and even tables in the sand. The bordering grassy park is the perfect venue picnics and events. It features picnic facilities, covered pavilions, playgrounds and barbecue pits.
MALIBU LAGOON STATE BEACH

overview:
The Malibu Creek and the sea intersect at this state beach. As a result, the park features wetlands and flower gardens. The grassy lawn area and covered pavilion are both available for events. It is located next to the famous Surfider Beach, just up the short path from the beach. The historic Adamson House, with its ocean views, is also available for events.
MISSION BAY BEACHES

This massive beach and park spans a whopping 4,235 acres. Within its borders are 15 event areas, picnic sections, grills, beaches and the famous SeaWorld Adventure Park. East Bonita Cove holds 100, Mission Point holds 150, West Bonita Cove holds 250 and De Anza Cove holds 750.

This beach is located North of Crystal Pier between Pacific Beach and La Jolla Shores. It stretches one mile and is bordered by 75-foot cliffs. Activities include surfing and sail boarding at the Tourmaline Surfing Park.
SALT CREEK BEACH

overview:
The Salt Creek Beach is located in Dana Point, just below the Ritz-Carlton resort. This beach is very popular for surfing and picnicking. A paved pathway leads from the parking lot to the seven-acre park. The grassy park features picnic table and barbeque grills. For large events the park can accommodate 300.
SAN BUENAVENTURA STATE BEACH

overview:
The San Buenaventura State Beach offers sand dunes, picnic facilities, fishing, biking and volleyball. The 1,700-foot pier offers several snack bars, a restaurant, a bait shop and a beach-equipment rental shop. Events, including the Pirate Festival, a triathlon and a volleyball tournament, are held annually. Bike trails lead to nearby beaches. The beach itself is two miles wide.

The famous Santa Monica Pier was built in 1909 and offers amusement rides, prize games, a mini golf course and an arcade. Restaurants and bars feature ocean views and are available for events. The carousel holds 300 for seated events and 600 for receptions. Pacific Park is also available for full buyouts.

Santa Monica State Beach is located on a two-mile stretch of sand and ocean. Activities include rollerblading, bike riding and volleyball.
