Directors Chairs
A director’s chair is a chair usually made of wood, plastic or metal and canvas that is typically associated with the film industry. If the frame of the chair is made of wood it can be found in an assortment of colors and finishes. The canvas material which makes up the seat and the back rest can also be found in any color. The canvas portion of the chair could also have a person’s name inscribed on the back. Director’s chairs are foldable and thus portable making them perfect for the film industry. The chairs themselves come in a number of heights including:
- 17”
- 18”
- 24”
- 30”
The different heights make the chairs suitable for table, counter or bar seating. The canvas portion of the chair is replaceable making the chair an event planner’s dream. Director’s chairs are not very formal or elegant and are more suitable for use in a picnic or other backyard summertime event. Even if you decide to use chair ties or other décor, it doesn’t erase the fact that they are very casual. Director’s chairs are great for an outside concert event where guests can easily move themselves around yet have a comfy seat elevated from the itchy grass. It would be completely inappropriate to use director’s chair inside of any venue unless you were throwing a casual wrap party or other low key event associated with the film or television industry.
