Demitasse
A demitasse is a French derived word and is a small cup used to serve strong black coffee or espresso. The demitasse comes with a small proportionate saucer used for resting lemon rinds or stirrer. A demitasse is often made of white porcelain although it can be found in other varieties with designs and colors.
A demitasse only holds two- three fluid ounces which is half the size of a normal sized coffee cup.
If your barista is making espressos at an event it is a good idea to supply your guest with a demitasse. Those who drink espresso might not know the name of the cup but they will recognize if it is not served. The whole idea behind serving espresso in a demitasse is because people do not typically serve six ounces of espresso- it is too strong.
Espresso is meant to be served in small doses and a demitasse is perfect for that. For an interesting flair, as mentioned before, demitasses can be purchased in a wide array of designs and styles making it easy to accommodate any themed event. Demitasses are usually made of pottery or porcelain so they could be painted as well.
