Carnival - Carnivals
A carnival is an outdoor fair or celebration associated with food, games, rides, entertainment and prizes for adult or children. Event planning companies typically plan carnivals during the warm spring and summer months because it is definitely an outdoor activity. Carnivals are similar to picnics and barbeques because they are both held outside and have a major focus on food and activities. Examples of the food typically offered at a carnival are:

The only real difference between the corporate picnics/barbeques and corporate carnivals are the fact that carnivals offer rides such as a Ferris wheel and maybe an exotic animal shows. Event planners often plan smaller scale carnivals as a company event, especially if it is a family activity. Carnivals offer more activities for children yet usually cost a great deal more due to the rides which require safety attendants as well as permits. Carnivals are also a great idea for teambuilding activities as well. They offer a very relaxed environment that is big on fun and fantastic food.
Carnivals can be set up at any outdoor venue that can accommodate the nature of the event. A carnival could be set up in someone’s backyard if they have the space for a merry go round, or if not you could plan a lower scale carnival with clowns and face painting. The definitions of a carnival, picnic and barbeque have all been blurred as all three are an excuse to celebrate in the sunlight. The type of carnival you decide to have is directly impacted by the culture of your guests. Are you hosting mostly kids and a few adults? Are you hosting families with a lot of infants? Are you hosting all adults and no children? Find out the culture of the company when planning a carnival because you can make the event as original as you need to.
