Beer Mug – Beer Glass

A beer mug is a thick glass or plastic handled container typically used for drinking beer out of at a bar. Bartenders often use beer mugs to serve beer because an entire bottle of beer can be poured into one glass. This lessens the amount of spills because guests don’t have to worry about carrying a beer mug plus a bottle of beer through a crowd. A beer mug is a very informal type of drinking container and is not typically used at events unless it is for a specific reason. When a bartender pours beer into a mug, they should typically tilt the mug to one side to minimize the amount of bubbles produced by the beer itself. This technique lessens the serving time because once the mug overflows with bubbles, the bartender has to wait for them to dissipate before he or she can finish pouring. This holds up service and can become a burden, especially if there are a lot of guests to be served.

Beer mugs are usually stored in the freezer in order to preserve the coldness of the beer after it has been poured. If you serve beer in a room temperature mug then the beer won’t stay cold as long as it would if it were served in a cold glass. Nobody wants to drink room temperature beer, so make sure to chill your mugs if you’re going to use them. The handle on the beer mug is helpful as well because it prevents guests from holding the mug with their hands and warming the beer with their body heat. As stated before, beer mugs are not very formal and at formal events, beer is usually just served in its original bottle. Beer mugs tend to be a bit heavy because they are made to be durable and sturdy so, they are not the best for use at an event.
